iPhone 8 : Apple In Talks With Sharp To Supply OLED Displays For Next IPhone

If you have seen the performance and brightness of the Samsung’s AMOLED screen, then you will definitely be a little disappointed by the performance of the iPhone 7 LCD display. It seems like apple has also realized this. A new report says Apple is reportedly in negotiations with Sharp OLED displays for the iPhone 8.

New reports show that Apple is in negotiations with Sharp to secure OLED displays for Apple's next generation iPhone. Sharp aims to produce the mobile displays begin in June 2018 according to Bloomberg.

OLEDs, or organic light emitting diode, a display technology that requires no backlight such as the traditional liquid crystal displays (LCD) is required. Instead, each pixel is filled with an organic compound that emits light when an electric current is passed through it. This is the technology that enables companies like Samsung to produce phones with curved displays.

Apple may work with additional partners on securing a supply of OLED screens for the next iPhone, according to Ubergizmo. Apple would acquire OLED displays from companies like LG, Japan Display and even Samsung.
