iPhone 6s Is Water Resistant

There has been many rumors that the next iPhone from apple will be water proof. This is an unavoidable step for android since all the competitors are providing water resistance for the flagship phones. But the new reports suggest that Apple is pretty close to a waterproof phones already with its most recently released iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

According to a new reports from iFixit, the website famous for tear-down benchmarking of smartphones, the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus is more water-resistant than previous versions of the iPhone. This does not mean that you can wash your new iPhone.

"Of course, it was only a theory, but the overall trend is clear. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus is dramatically less likely to liquid damage than their predecessors.

After dismantling, iFixti found that the new iPhone has a slightly larger frame of about 0.3 millimeters or so that are designed to fit a small protective packing. Moreover, each cable connection point on the iPhone "logic boards are surrounded by a small silicone gasket. This is exactly the type of installation they can be used to protect an otherwise fragile part of the phone, which can corrode or short circuit when exposed to fluid.

But what makes the new iPhone more water-repellent than waterproof is the fact that Apple has not, for lack of a better word, plugged up other possible starting points for the liquid on the unit. Water (or soda, or whatever) will still get into your iPhone 6s and 6s Plus through the headphone jack or speakers, and possibly other places too.

So it is not recommended to dip your iPhone into water. At least until you have a plan to buy a new phone...
