Google Finally Brings Offline Turn-By-Turn Directions To Maps

Google makes life easier for those who need to use maps in areas with spotty data connections. On Tuesday, the company added new features for offline maps, including turn-by-turn directions, the ability to search for a destination, and location data. To use the new features offline, you must first download a specific section of the map manually.

Google offline functionality is currently distributed to Android and will soon be available on iOS. Google first announced the new offline features in May at Google I / O

Google offline Maps is now widely improved. There are two ways to use the new feature to save the offline map data. First, you can search the area; press the banner at the bottom of the screen to bring up the panel. Then simply press the download icon, confirm that you want to download, name the offline area, and you get offline access to this area of Google Maps.

The second way to add offline area is click the "hamburger" menu on the left side of the screen, select areas you wants offline, and press the + button.

After downloading specific areas, Google Maps move in the offline mode automatically when you hit a path with uneven or no service. Once connectivity is improved, it will return to online maps.

While offline Google Maps now offers deep functionality, a great thing that you will not be able to do that is to see live traffic updates. I do not believe there is another app in the market with such a feature either.
